About & Scope
Journal of Strategic Policy and Global Affairs is a double bind peer-reviewed journal and the journal publishes research articles, refereed review essays, and commentary and provocation pieces. ‘Articles’ are traditional scholarly articles. ‘Review essays’ use newly published books as the basis to thematically examine current events in Strategic Policies and International Relations. We encourage theoretical contributions that strive to broaden existing perspectives and present novel theories, frameworks, models, or linkages elucidating global strategic management. We welcome studies that link strategic management with other disciplines (such as economics, political economy, history, law, psychology, sociology, geography, etc.), as long as the study’s main objective is a global strategy and it has an impact on the field of strategic management as a whole. We are open to extending any theoretical foundation. We anticipate that any conceptual modeling or analytical results will explicitly take the implications of the global context into account.
We welcome all types of empirical research that examine any aspect of global strategy, including large-sample quantitative analysis, small-number comparative studies, single-case studies, simulations, etc. We also seek studies that clarify prior empirical findings and provide a more thorough explanation of the empirical linkages of well-known theoretical mechanisms, as well as studies that add to a better understanding of research methodologies in global strategy. It promotes an interdisciplinary understanding of today’s global complexity, interconnection, and events of international/racial significance with the aim of strengthening the knowledge base from Pakistan and the Global South and North in areas relating to conventional and non-conventional security issues, international relations, political economy, defense studies, climate change, environment studies, military strategy, terrorism and counterterrorism, nuclear studies, foreign policy, and law. They are particularly relevant to Pakistan.
To deliver high-quality policy recommendations through thorough research, unbiased analysis, and discussion on international and regional issues affecting Pakistan’s growth, security, and peace. We are also considering contributions for viewpoint essays that advance the academic discourse by elucidating earlier hypotheses and offering suggestions for further investigation into novel subjects and ideas. Point-counterpoint essays, in which two opposing viewpoints analyze the same subject, discoveries essays, in which brand-new ideas or concepts are presented, critical reviews essays, in which prior knowledge is clarified and assessed, and special issues essays, in which a number of articles discuss the same subject.
Last but not least, the GSPGA is dedicated to upholding the highest levels of scholarly rigour and quality while also respecting methodological and philosophical variations across national and regional scholarly traditions. JSPGA focuses on the new trends and counter-trends in peace and security studies to address theoretical and practical concerns brought up by the world’s rapid change.
An Editorial Review Board made up of seasoned and engaged peer scholars reviews manuscripts in a double-blind fashion. In addition to being thorough and tough, reviews are timely, developmental, and open-minded. A group of editors (Co-Editors and Associate Editors) who have extensive editorial and research experience works to support the Board. A Senior Editorial Board of reputable academics from the field of international strategy advises these editors in turn. Due to these criteria, GSPGA has become and will continue to be a publication dedicated to high levels of intellectual rigour, explicitly avoiding any cultural or institutional biases in favour of or against any particular study kind, method, or source. As a way to meet the publication standards of GSPGA, the journal will archive data and other sources of material as deemed suitable and essential and make them accessible to other scholars.
